Little League Baseball Announces New Bat Standard
Before buying a new baseball bat for this season, please consider a new rule just announced by Little League Baseball – it will impact nearly every player in PALL.
Effective on Jan. 1, 2018, Little League will adhere to the new standard. No bats previously approved for use in Little League Play (Junior League Baseball and below) will be permitted to be used in any Little League game or practice, or other Little League function, event, or activity.
Put simply, bats approved by Little League for the upcoming 2017 season, won't be sanctioned by the organization in 2018.
The new called the "wood-like performance standard," the league states "will best provide for the long-term integrity of the game." The 2018 sanctioned bats will not be available in stores or online until September 2017.
The Little League website has more information on the new standard and a list of frequently asked questions.
